EVTOL Aircraft: Bringing on the Age of Micro Exploration and Changing the Future of Cities

After more than a year of travel restrictions and social distancing, we've deepened our connections to our homes and gained a greater appreciation for our local environment. The thirst for exploration is palpable, with people eager to reconnect with their friends, families and favorite places through shared experiences.

Improving connection, accessibility and the everyday lived experience in the world’s biggest cities is a huge driving force for the team here at Archer. We’re dedicated to reshaping mobility by moving people throughout the world in a quick, safe, sustainable, and cost-effective manner. Our goal is for our aircraft to address the environmental issues caused by ground transportation and urban overloading, while untethering people from their daily lives by opening up new and exciting micro exploration experiences that were not previously available.

Imagine a world where you can travel from San Francisco to Santa Cruz in 15 minutes for a quick lunch or go from Manhattan to JFK in just 10 minutes instead of 90. Think of what you could do when long commute times get much, much shorter, and how you could expand your boundaries for exploration and connection. The prospects of urban air mobility bring exciting new scenery into grasp. Archer users can take a morning hike in Marin before hitting the office, and then unwind with an evening wine tasting in Napa Valley - all with time to spare.

With this unprecedented new type of aircraft, our aim is to enable the age of the micro explorer. Whether that is experiencing a new beach, finding an off the beaten path spot for a picnic, or even just commuting, we think a micro explorer knows the value of their time, community and shared experiences with loved ones. eVTOLs open up a new realm of possibility, allowing passengers to expand their surroundings and adventures faster and more affordably than ever possible.

We’re already well on our way to making this vision a reality. Just this year, Archer partnered with Los Angeles and Miami to educate and engage their citizens around what low-noise, electric aircraft are expected to bring to those cities. We’ve also announced a strategic partnership with Stellantis, signed a $1 billion deal with United – the first commercial eVTOL order from a major airline – and entered into a SPAC deal with Atlas Crest Investment Corp. Looking ahead, we hope to continue to partner with other cities in the coming years, as they look to retrofit infrastructure, create new transportation networks, and prepare their cities for the next iteration of transportation challenges. We’re excited to continue the work necessary to improve the lives of countless people around the world.
